Warpaint
Warpaint is a web-based tool that generates a per-project interface color scheme for VS Code and VS Code-compatible IDEs like Cursor and VSCodium. Pick a base color - or sample one from a logo, image, or website - preview it on a live IDE mockup, and write the generated color customizations directly into your project's .vscode/settings.json without disturbing anything else in the file.
Paint a Project →Color From Anywhere
Color picker, hex, RGB, presets, or random - or sample from an uploaded logo, an image URL, or a website screenshot. In Chrome and Edge, a native eyedropper grabs a color from anywhere on your screen.
Accessible by Math
Derives the full palette - active and inactive backgrounds, foregrounds, hover, border, and badge colors - using WCAG relative-luminance contrast, and warns when a combination falls short.
Live IDE Preview
See exactly which surfaces get tinted on an IDE-style mockup, including a focused/unfocused window toggle, before anything is written.
Adjustable Strength
Choose Subtle, Balanced, or Bold to control how much of the IDE receives the color, then fine-tune individual areas.
Safe Writes
Creates or updates .vscode/settings.json in place with a pre-save change summary and automatic backup. Manual edits are never silently overwritten, and one click removes only the app-managed colors.
No Install
Runs in your browser. Works with VS Code, Cursor, VSCodium, and other VS Code-compatible IDEs.
